In the fall of 1983, I left Brooklyn and entered the University of Pennsylvania as a pre-med freshman armed with my mom's camera. And once at Penn, I couldn't stop taking pictures. But film was getting expensive, so as a sophomore I joined the school newspaper, which not only had plenty of free film, but also had a closet full of the latest cameras and lenses. With these new toys at my disposal, I soon discovered that I had a gift for photography and composition, winning five national awards for photography and graphic design as a student. Realizing I had found my career, I made sure to study some Entrepreneurial Management at the Wharton School before I graduated. So much for my becoming a doctor.

When I put my cameras down - and I do - I enjoy dragon boating, playing softball and basketball, and cooking anything Italian.
